Supplements for definition or weight loss
Below I will describe a large part of the supplements used for loss
weight or muscle definition, or at least those that I think work. Also to say that these by themselves are useless unless you have a correct training and diet.
How do these supplements work?
There are different types, such as pipolytics, thermogenics, stimulants, appetite suppressants, diuretics, thyroid precursors and insulin, all include in their formulas a mixture of ingredients whose synergistic action favors the loss of fatty tissue through various mechanisms:
Mobilizing stored fat
Increased energy and alertness
Accelerating metabolism and thermogenesis
Helping regulate blood sugar
Helping to eliminate excess fluids
Decreasing appetite
However, as we have said before, fat burners do not work miracles, by themselves they are useless.
They are not a substitute for sports or a balanced diet , but one more supplement that taken before playing sports helps boost performance, improve concentration and ensure that part of the energy used by the body comes from body fat deposits.
That is why, that fat burners not only help people looking to shed extra pounds, but can help athletes improve their work capacity by increasing physical performance by using body fat stores for fuel and preserving muscle glycogen .
Thermogenics
They are the most used, we can define a thermogenic as any substance that has the ability to activate or accelerate metabolism and therefore increase body temperature, this translates into accelerated loss of body fat, as long as it is combined with diet and proper training. In summer its effectiveness is considerably reduced.
These stimulants of the central nervous system are substances that allow to raise the threshold of perception of fatigue, increasing its tolerance and acting as opiates of the nervous branches. There are many substances that contain these properties, among the most important we find the family of Methylxanthines, which are present in coffee, green tea, guarana or yerba mate among others.
In addition, to be fully effective, you have to take them in a pyramidal shape, that is, from less to more or make them in the form of a Zig-Zag since the
the body gets used to these compounds quickly, for example from 5 to 6 days ON for 3 to 4 OF and when the bottle is finished buy another with different compounds to surprise the body again.
Appetite suppressants.
If we want to reduce stored fat, diet is the base where we should start. Within this, we must opt for a hypocaloric diet that adapts to our needs, that is, we must eat fewer calories than we are going to spend, but it is very important to take a supplement that satisfies us a little to be able to control appetite.
Among the best known appetite suppressants, there is Hoodia extract, Mangosteen extract (Garcinia cambogia), and fiber supplements that occupy place in the stomach.
Lipolytic effect
This section includes ingredients capable of accelerating the use of fat deposits as an energy source, and consequently their elimination. These do not affect the central nervous system like thermogenics
and it is not necessary to cycle them as much as those mentioned above.
Lipolytics are also called “fat mobilizers” since they cause a greater amount of fatty acids They are released from their adipocyte and taken to the part of the cell where their subsequent conversion into energy occurs.
These types of ingredients are often useful for those who want to lose weight and to promote performance since by releasing fatty acids, they are used as fuel and increase work capacity, sometimes very substantially.
The best known lipolytics are: L-Carnitine, choline and inositol, lecithins, etc.
Diuretic effect
On many occasions, either due to the person’s genetics or due to unhealthy lifestyle habits, the person tends to accumulate liquid and may show an appearance that at first glance may assume that it has a high percentage of fat. And then, in the vast majority of cases, this is not the case since that excess weight is due to fluid retention.
For this reason, many fat burning supplements include ingredients with diuretic effects that favor the elimination of that excess fluids and we can continue to lose weight and improve appearance.
Among the most popular diuretic ingredients included in fat burning formulas, we find Caffeine, Horsetail, Dandelion, Guarana , Nettle, Fennel, etc.
Thyroid regulators
Many of the fat burners include ingredients with a high iodine content that help regulate the hormonal response, allowing the thyroid function to be correct, and motivating our metabolism to act more effectively.
Regulate the Thyroid function affects weight loss, through not accumulating so much fat and this is burned instead of deposited.
Among the ingredients that help improve the function of the thyroid we find the Fucus, kelp algae, black cohos, nettle, iodine or spirulina.
Insulin enhancers
Insulin enhancers play a prominent role in sugar metabolism and insulin, increasing cell sensitivity to this hormone, and hence in energy processes.
If these ingredients make insulin work better, it means that glucose and amino acids are absorbed at a faster rate through the cells, therefore more energy and building materials, if these are required.
On the contrary, if insulin is not effective in its function, both glucose and unabsorbed amino acids can return to the liver where they will be transformed into fat tissue . Chromium Picolinate, Vanadium, and Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA or R-ALA) minelars are ingredients that improve insulin function.
Conclusion
Of course there are many more supplements that we could name but here are the ones that I think work.
